Foshan City located in Shunde, Guangdong, has earned itself a long-standing reputation for its people and traditions, boasting a profound understanding of food and its different elements. The culture, traditions and wisdom of this district are a well-kept secret waiting to be unveiled. Hennessy and Meals third stop of “Rediscovering the Chinese Flavor” was Shunde, where the journey began with Mr. He Weishen, a famous gourmet across China. 重新发现之一:一方水土,成就一方至味

Re-discovery No.1: A Natural Environment Cultivates a Unique Taste

顺德自古以来就是鱼米之乡,造就这片富庶之地的,是顺德特有的桑基鱼塘生态系统,资源循环,生生不息。当地老饕常常会在品尝风味独特的桑叶扎、春花饼时,来一杯加冰的轩尼诗V.S.O.P——轩尼诗干邑最早就在这个珠三角腹地开始盛行。不管是丰盛的宴席上,还是在这葱翠的桑树下,一杯轩尼诗,就是一段好时光。这次轩尼诗的顺德寻味旅程,还带来了更会玩更“叹”(粤语,意为 “享受”)的做法——以桑叶茶加冰调成的端午特饮,口感之清新更是令人惊喜。

Since early days, Shunde has delighted upon a land where “fish and rice prosper”. What makes this rich and fertile land unique is the “mulberry fish pond’s” ecological system, known for its self-sustainable use of natural resources. Local gourmets will choose to have a glass of iced Hennessy V.S.O.P to go with “Sangyezha” (a dish using mulberry leaves to wrap corn, foie gras and French beans) and “Chunhua Pancake”, both local specialties. Although a glass of Hennessy cognac is flawless as it is, the culinary journey in Shunde introduced a more interesting way of enjoying this liquor. By incorporating local mulberry leaves to mix a cocktail especially made for the Dragon Boat Festival, guests experienced an entirely fresh and unique taste.

每年端午的龙船饭是顺德人一年一度最热闹的美食盛宴,此次轩尼诗“重新发现中国味”的到来,更让顺德上演了一顿所有人都意想不到的龙船饭——在最传统的一家顺德祠堂,最地道的顺德美食与轩尼诗干邑碰撞出最摩登的龙船饭:青砖黑瓦的祠堂大院,雕龙画凤的屋檐与一座凭空建起、充满现代摩登感的“美食厨房”交相辉映。台下,高朋满座;台上,轩尼诗品牌大使与知名美食家飞哥谈笑风生,将美酒佳肴结合的全新滋味与宾客细细分享。一道道地道的顺德名菜,在轩尼诗X.O和 V.S.O.P 的加持下,竟让以嘴刁闻名的顺德人吃出了平时都没尝过的全新滋味,大呼过瘾!

The Dragon-Boat feast is the most expected fare in the Dragon Boat Festival. In this particular occasion with Hennessy and Meals, a surprising and special Dragon Boat feast was presented – local delicacies elevated with Hennessy cognac resulted in a modern Dragon-Boat banquet at the ancestral temple in Shunde. The traditional grey-brick and black-tiled temple yard, dragon-carved, phoenix-painted roofs and a temporarily built modern kitchen complemented each other in a harmonious display. With the delectable combination of Shunde’s famous dishes and Hennessy X.O and V.S.O.P, our guest’s complex pallets were again and again, surprised with new and outstanding flavors.

Shunde’s dishes combine countless ingredients and techniques, while Hennessy cognac blends hundreds of eaux-de-vie to achieve a rich aroma and taste. By complementing local flavors with Hennessy, an entirely new, and holistic form of dining was formed.
