The 2025 RETRO CLASSICS® trade fair saw our Mercedes-Benz Classic experts put on a live exhibition of their skills – restoring upholstery, transmissions, and steering systems to the delight of a capacity crowd. A tribute to true automotive artistry, the feat is a testament to the team’s in-depth knowledge of authentic materials and their historically appropriate processing essential for preserving classic vehicles.

Our Mercedes-Benz Classic Centre has been passing on this specific knowledge from generation to generation, which is essential for factory restorations and is demonstrated by a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (W 198) that is currently being restored.

As with any of our restoration projects, our ambition for the 300 SL is to preserve as much of its original essence as possible. That’s why the choice of paintwork in silver-grey metallic (DB180) and the interior in ‘Gabardine blue chequered’ (L1) has been made with great care to match the car’s original interior design when it came out 70 years ago.

If you’re interested, we’ve got a younger Mercedes-Benz 300 SL for purchase that is part of the R 107 model series produced from 1971 to 1989. This immaculate 1988 Roadster is a one-owner car in mint condition with only 26,500 kilometres. It features a classic grey-blue (DB199) exterior, black leather interior, and rare options like a trip computer and rear bench seat.
